Our client is a progressive and established regional contractor, delivering high-quality projects across multiple sectors including civil engineering, infrastructure, water, highways, and building works. With exciting growth opportunities ahead, we are looking to expand our preconstruction teams in Hampshire and Kent with talented Estimators at all levels.
The Role
As an Estimator, you will play a key part in the work-winning process securing and delivering successful projects. Working closely with the preconstruction team, you will be responsible for the preparation of accurate and competitive cost estimates across a wide range of disciplines.
Depending on your level of experience, you will:
* Manage tender opportunities from receipt through to submission.
* Analyse drawings, specifications, and other tender documentation.
* Prepare accurate quantities, rates, and pricing for a variety of projects.
* Assess risk and value engineering opportunities within tenders.
* Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive quotations.
* Support and collaborate with Bid Managers, Planners, and Design Teams to produce robust and competitive bids.
* Contribute to the development of estimating procedures, processes, and systems within the preconstruction team.
* Mentor and support junior members of the team (Senior Estimator level).
Essential Skills & Experience:
* Estimating experience in any construction discipline (civil engineering, build, infrastructure, utilities, highways, etc.)
* Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills
* Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and contract documents
* Good understanding of procurement and supply chain processes
* Excellent IT skills, with knowledge of estimating software packages (Causeway or similar desirable)
* Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with stakeholders
Desirable:
* Experience in the renewables, water, or highways sector
* Knowledge of NEC/JCT contracts
* Experience preparing tenders of varying size and complexity
