Senior Economist (Strategic Client Development) - Competittive Salary - London, United Kingdom (hybrid)
Our client is a specialist economic consultancy focused exclusively on litigation and dispute-related work. By transforming complex data into clear, persuasive economic evidence, they support law firms, regulators and funders on high-stakes competition and financial matters across multiple jurisdictions.
As part of their continued international expansion, they are now seeking a Senior Economist to strengthen client relationships across the UK and Northern Europe and drive new mandates within competition and financial litigation.
Role
This position will take responsibility for developing and strengthening client relationships across the UK and Northern Europe, while actively generating new mandates from law firms, regulators and litigation funders.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of financial markets and competition economics, alongside the credibility, communication skills and commercial instinct needed to build lasting professional relationships and convert opportunities into engagements
Key Responsibilities
Client Development & Origination
* Expand and manage relationships with law firms, barristers’ chambers, litigation funders, regulators and enforcement bodies across the UK and Northern Europe
* Generate new mandates, working closely with internal teams to develop and deliver high-quality pitches
* Act as a senior point of contact for funders and external counsel, ensuring strong coordination between clients and internal economists
* Proactively identify client needs, risks and commercial opportunities
Marketing & Profile
* Represent the firm at conferences, seminars and industry events
* Contribute to thought leadership and collaborate with PR and communications teams to strengthen market visibility
Leadership
* Manage and support client relationship and origination colleagues across international offices, contributing to broader growth strategy
Key Skills
* Experience within an economic consultancy, regulatory body, ratings agency or similar analytical environment
* Strong academic foundation in economics, finance or a related quantitative discipline
* Demonstrated ability to build and maintain trusted professional relationships with clients such as law firms, regulators or institutional stakeholders
* Commercially minded, with a proactive approach to client development and market positioning
* Highly developed interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence, with the ability to adapt communication style to different audiences
* Confident communicator capable of translating complex economic or financial concepts into clear, persuasive messages
* Naturally curious, creative and solutions-oriented, with strong professional integrity
* Motivated to mentor, collaborate and contribute to a high-performing international team
