The Statutory Specialist Services team provides support to citizens, via the Care Act 2014, who are in custody at HMP Birmingham or one of the four approved premises in the Birmingham area. We also network with local authorities nationally to ensure that as citizens are transferred through the prison estate citizens requiring social care receive a seamless service.
You will have demonstrable social work experience, the ability to work positively as part of a team and in partnership with other stakeholders. The successful candidate will have to complete an additional vetting process, conducted by Her Majesty’s Prison & Probation Service. In addition to this role you will also develop skills and take on work from Sensory Impairment.
Working within the legislative framework, you will carry out social work functions, including working within a duty system, utilising relevant legislation to complete conversations and provide support and guidance, drawing on sound inter-personal and communication skills. You will carry a caseload and will require the ability to deliver under pressure within required timeframes.
You should be eligible to be registered with Social Work England.
