Senior Supervising Social Worker – North West England

About the Role
As a Senior Supervising Social Worker, you will be involved in recruiting, assessing, and supervising foster carers to ensure the delivery of excellent fostering services. You will support foster carers through regular visits, support groups, and training initiatives, maintaining high standards of care and safety. The role involves travel to foster carers' homes and participation in recruitment events, sometimes during evening or weekend hours. You will contribute to high-quality assessments, report writing, and the assessment of foster carers, working in compliance with relevant policies and standards.
Key Responsibilities
Travel within the region to meet foster carers, attend recruitment events, and undertake assessments.
Conduct Form F assessments in accordance with agency standards and statutory timescales.
Prepare detailed, high-standard Form F reports and present them to the Fostering Panel.
Provide ongoing support to foster carers through supervision and support visits, maintaining a supportive and safe environment for children.
Assist with matching children to foster placements and contribute to placement planning meetings.
Promote safeguarding and complete risk assessments aligned with agency protocols.
Organise and facilitate training sessions and support groups for foster carers.
Represent the agency at reviews and multi-agency meetings.
Maintain accurate, current records and ensure compliance with Ofsted regulations.
Participate in out-of-hours support for foster carers, including emergency advice.
Engage with project work that enhances team effectiveness and service delivery.
Essential Requirements
Degree or Diploma in Social Work and registration with Social Work England.
At least four years’ experience in fostering or family placement social work.
Sound knowledge of legislation such as The Children Act 1989 and National Minimum Standards for Fostering.
Proven ability to produce comprehensive Form F assessments and reports.
Excellent communication, organisation, and time management skills.
Full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle.
Ability to work autonomously, under pressure, and flexibly including occasional out-of-hours support.
Desirable Skills and Knowledge
Experience with working within Local Authorities or Independent Fostering Agencies.
Knowledge of adoption legislation, Data Protection, and Human Rights.
Skills in recruitment, publicity, and successful carer retention strategies.
Competency with online platforms such as Zoom and MS Teams.
Additional Information
Salary: £32,341 - £34,090 per annum (dependent on experience), with allowances including home-working and travel.
Hours: 30 hours per week, Monday to Thursday, 9am – 5pm.
Benefits: 32.8 days annual leave (including bank holidays), 10% employer pension scheme, car and travel allowances.
