Job Description:
We are looking for capable, experienced, and proactive individuals to join our growing team as Chemical Process Engineers. These are high-impact roles, ideal for experienced engineers who thrive on technical complexity, process rigor, and innovation with purpose. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the regeneration of the Raynesway Nuclear Licensed Site, replacing current facilities with modern manufacturing capabilities. You will work across multiple projects and lifecycle stages, ensuring areas under your responsibility meet engineering and project requirements. You will interact with various stakeholders, supported by a community of around 3,000 engineers in the Submarines business, with training and development opportunities. The role is based in Derby with hybrid working options. Experience in nuclear facilities is advantageous but not mandatory; the key is the right approach and ability to influence multidisciplinary engineers to integrate chemical engineering into overall solutions.
Responsibilities include acting as 'Intelligent Customer' for chemical engineering design and construction, ensuring safety principles are embedded, leading development of design requirements, reviewing documentation, and ensuring proper commissioning and decommissioning of chemical systems. You will support the Engineering Manager in ensuring qualified personnel perform chemical engineering work and provide mentorship to junior engineers and cross-functional teams.
Qualifications include a Chemical/Process Engineering degree or similar, experience with nuclear or conventional facilities, familiarity with UK nuclear licensing and safety standards, experience on high hazard sites, and knowledge of process safety tools. Chartered Engineer status or working towards it is preferred. We value safety, integrity, simplicity, and making a difference—principles that guide us in all our roles.
Why join Rolls-Royce? We offer development opportunities, a competitive salary, and benefits including bonuses, support assistance, and discounts. Our hybrid working model allows flexibility between office and remote work. We are committed to diversity and inclusion, believing that diverse perspectives foster innovation and success. To work in our Submarines business, security clearance is required, which we will support you in obtaining. Applications from UK nationals or MoD-approved dual nationals are welcome.
