Role Overview:

The Operational Training Manager will design, develop and deliver end-to-end training programmes across all operational functions within the business. You will be the key driving force behind induction & onboarding, ongoing skills development, and aligning learning resources and content across site teams, managers, contractors and corporate support. Your role is not primarily to write the policies or SOPs themselves, but to translate existing or evolving processes into effective training content and to ensure consistency and quality of delivery.


Key Duties & Responsibilities

•Design and deliver a comprehensive training programme for all operational user groups (site teams, managers, support functions).

•Create training content including classroom training, walkthroughs, checklists, guides, short video tutorials, and self-guided learning resources.

•Develop onboarding and induction programmes for new starters, ensuring smooth integration into Student Castle culture, systems, and operational expectations.

•Align content between different functions (sales, finance, systems resident experience, etc.) to ensure consistency of knowledge and inter-team understanding.

•Set up and manage live training sessions and self-learning options; adjust delivery methods for different levels of seniority or responsibility.

•Build and maintain a training calendar: schedule sessions, track completions, identify gaps, and plan refresher training where needed.

•Support and collaborate with other teams (Operations, HR, Systems, Property/FM etc.) to ensure new starter onboarding, inductions, and system updates are smoothly integrated into the training plan.

•Collect feedback from learners and operational stakeholders; analyse where learners are facing difficulties or gaps, and revise content or delivery approaches accordingly.

•Support operational knowledge retention especially during periods of change: new site openings, system upgrades, staff turnover.

•Maintain an accessible repository of training materials (e.g. via SharePoint) so resources are easy to find and keep current.


What We're Looking For:


Skills, Experience & Attributes – Essential:

•Experience designing & delivering training programmes, ideally in operational and frontline service environments (PBSA, hospitality, residential property management, etc.)

•Strong content creation skills: storytelling, video, guides, walkthroughs; able to explain processes clearly to different audiences.

•Excellent communication & presentation skills; comfortable with live training & virtual and self-learning formats.

•Strong interpersonal skills: you’ll collaborate with many teams (Sites, Operations, HR, IT, Finance etc.).

•Highly organised, with capability to manage training schedules, track outcomes and follow through on actions.

•A learner mindset: open to feedback, continuous improvement, adapting to new tools and systems.

•Knowledge of a Property Management System


Skills, Experience & Attributes – Desirable

•Experience in PBSA or student accommodation sector (or closely related sectors).

•Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS), e-learning authoring tools, video content tools.

•Experience of inducting and onboarding teams

•Some knowledge of Entrata

•Basic understanding of standard operational functions: leasing, maintenance, resident experience, finance workflows.

•New starters feel confident earlier: shorter ramp-up times in key operations roles.

•Training gaps identified proactively and closed efficiently.

•Consistent experience across sites: aligned understanding of process and workflows between teams.

•Training materials are up-to-date, accessible, and used.

•Feedback loops in place: training content improves over time based on user feedback.


Working Relationships

•Close collaboration with Department Heads, Site Managers and Regional Managers.

•Liaise with HR for onboarding and induction, and with Systems and IT for tools and updates.

•Engagement with contractors and third-party providers where training is needed.

•Feedback & alignment with different teams on cross-functional training needs.


Additional Details

•Flexibility to travel between sites as needed for on-site training and inductions.

•Occasional out-of-hours work may be required for live sessions or new site rollouts.

•Expectation to keep up with changes: system updates, new operational tools, changes in SOPs, etc.
