About the Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students both academically and emotionally within small, carefully structured class groups. You’ll work closely with the teaching and therapy team to create a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment for young people who may have struggled in mainstream education.
Key Responsibilities
*
Support students with SEMH and ASD, helping them to build confidence, social skills and independence.
*
Assist in the delivery of creative, personalised learning activities tailored to individual needs.
*
Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation using therapeutic and trauma-informed approaches.
*
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and pastoral staff to ensure consistent support.
*
Encourage student participation and celebrate progress, no matter how small.
*
Contribute to maintaining a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment.
What We’re Looking For
*
Previous experience working with young people with SEND, particularly SEMH and ASD.
*
A calm, resilient and compassionate approach.
*
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
*
A willingness to learn and engage in ongoing professional development.
*
Relevant qualifications such as Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant, Health & Social Care, or equivalent are desirable but not essential.
