In return for your hard work, the Council will offer you training opportunities to fulfil your CPD requirements, regular supervision from the Clinical Lead and payment of your registration fees.

At Birchwood we have high levels of trained, supportive and committed dementia practitioners and residential care officers to support you across your role to ensure the highest level of care can be delivered.
You will need to have:
1. Current NMC registration and a good knowledge of the most up-to-date clinical practices to join us as a Registered Nurse (RGN)
2. Experience of producing well-developed care plans and detailed risk assessments is important too, as is an understanding of regulatory frameworks, including DoLs/MCA and Royal Pharmaceutical guidelines.
3. Dedicated and compassionate approach, you’ll pride yourself on your person-centred, thoughtful approach to nursing.
4. Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to lead a shift and provide direction to the staff group on the Nursing Unit at Birchwood Care Home.
West Berkshire Council is looking to recruit Registered General Nurses for Birchwood Care Home which provides nursing care and care for frail elderly residents, some with dementia and challenging behaviour; we aim to offer a friendly, safe and secure environment.
We believe our residents have choices about their care, and we promote independence as much as possible. We aim to offer social and emotional support to our residents in order to meet their individual needs.
We are looking for Nurses to provide nursing care to residents in accordance with their assessed needs. We are looking for staff that can;
5. Maintain skills and keep up to date with clinical developments and best practice in areas relevant to care delivery in the home.
6. Undertaken training appropriate to the role, as agreed with the Home Manager, and ensure learning is shared and transferred into practice.
7. Review the daily delivery of care, including pressure area prevention, nutrition and infection prevention and control procedures. Ensure high standards of care delivery are maintained.
8. To be responsible for the safe and appropriate management, administration and recording of medication, including controlled drugs and oxygen, in accordance with NMC requirements.
9. Act at all times within your own skills and competence in accordance with the NMC code of practice.

16. You will also be entitled to a generous annual leave entitlement starting at 29 days per annum (plus public holidays) Rising by an additional 5 days after 5 years’ service.
We are ideally looking to offer the successful candidate the full number of hours advertised above. We may however consider offering less hours than advertised providing they meet the requirements of the role and service which will be determined by the recruiting manager.
