Role overview: Job Title: Gym Night Assistant Security ControllerDepartment: Profit & Asset ProtectionLocation: DC2 Kingsway Distribution Centre, RochdaleShift Pattern: 4 on / 4 off (6:30pm – 7:00am)Reporting To: Security Operations Manager / Night Security Lead Role Purpose The Gym Night Assistant Security Controller plays a critical role within the Night Security Team, ensuring the safety, security, and operational continuity of the company’s 24-hour gym estate. This position is responsible for real-time incident monitoring, escalation management, emergency service liaison, and operational support across multiple sites. The role requires sound judgement, strong analytical capability, and the ability to respond effectively to live and evolving situations. Key Responsibilities Monitor and respond to intruder, fire, panic, and medical alarm activations across the gym estate. Conduct CCTV monitoring and investigative reviews to identify potential risks, medical distress, trespass, or suspicious behaviour. Liaise directly with Police, Ambulance, and Fire Services where required, ensuring clear and accurate communication. Provide remote support to gym members and site teams, including alarm setting, resets, and technical troubleshooting. Accurately log incidents in line with company policy and produce detailed nightly intelligence reports. Escalate incidents appropriately in accordance with company procedures and risk protocols. Work closely with Security Technical Support to identify, report, and escalate equipment faults. Support the onboarding and training of new team members where required. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times when handling sensitive information. Knowledge, Skills and Experience Essential: Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills. Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. High attention to detail and accuracy in reporting. Competent in the use of CCTV, alarm monitoring systems, and Microsoft Office applications. Ability to work independently during night shifts. Desirable: Previous experience within a security operations centre or control room environment. Experience liaising with emergency services. Understanding of access control and security technology systems. SIA licence (if applicable).
