Position Summary
The Respiratory Care Practitioner provides respiratory care through patient assessment, planning, intervention, education, and evaluation. Performs procedures within scope of license, monitors patient responses, and recommends modifications as needed.
Key Responsibilities
In collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, conducts assessments, develops care plans, implements treatments, and evaluates their effectiveness. Performs treatments according to physician orders, explains therapies to patients, and adjusts treatments based on responses. Maintains documentation, ensures safety and infection control standards, and provides patient education on cardiopulmonary conditions and therapies. Sets up and maintains respiratory equipment, may serve as a preceptor, and responds to emergencies such as cardio-pulmonary resuscitations.
Qualifications
Requires current Respiratory Care License and NBRC credentialing. BLS certification is mandatory; ACLS and PALS are preferred. Must have graduated from an AMA-approved Respiratory Care program; a Bachelor's degree is preferred. Prior experience in ambulatory or acute care settings is advantageous. Valid driver’s license required for Home Care/DME roles.
