 
        
        Responsibilities
 * Hygiene: Assist patients with washing, bathing, mouth/dental care, hair washing, nail care, shaving, dressing, elimination, and toilet use.
 * Mobility: Assist patients with mobility and manual handling using risk assessment and safe handling techniques.
 * Nutrition: Assist patients to eat and drink as per identified care needs; identify, record and report abnormal dietary and fluid intake.
 * Clinical activities: Measure and observe physical condition (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, weight, MEWS/CREWS, oxygen saturation); use assessment tools to document pain, measure blood sugar if required.
 * Basic cleaning and decontamination of communal equipment between patient use and/or storage.
 * Communicate effectively and sensitively with patients, relatives and colleagues; refer to senior staff as necessary.
 * Maintain patient privacy, dignity, equality; promote diversity and rights at all times.
 * Maintain confidentiality of patient information at all times.
 * Complete the initial training period required to demonstrate knowledge, skills and attitudes in line with Care Certificate Standards and all mandatory training.
Qualifications
No formal qualification is required but a genuine interest in caring and effective communication is essential. The role requires the ability to work a combination of long days, twilights, nights and weekends.
About the Ward
Rosemary Ward is a 33‑bedded Community Assessment Bed unit situated within Newmarket Community Hospital, approximately thirteen miles from West Suffolk Hospital. The unit has been commissioned by West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust and the service is hosted by West Suffolk Hospital.
