Job Summary
Slough Borough Council is seeking a highly organised and proactive Project Support Officer to assist the Recovery and Transformation PMO in the delivery of key projects aligned with the Council’s Recovery Plan and Corporate Plan. Working closely with programme managers, stakeholders and senior leaders, this role will support project governance, engagement planning and communications coordination to ensure successful project delivery and alignment across the organisation. The successful candidate will play a critical role in stakeholder mapping, maintaining project documentation, identifying cross‑cutting engagement requirements and shaping a cohesive communications approach across all projects.
Key Duties / Accountabilities (Sample)
* Provide day‑to‑day project support across multiple programmes within the Recovery and Transformation PMO.
* Lead and maintain robust stakeholder and engagement mapping across all projects.
* Collate and maintain a high‑level communications plan aligned to project activities.
* Support Programme Managers by identifying cross‑cutting engagement requirements and associated risks.
* Monitor project timelines, deliverables and key performance indicators (KPIs).
* Contribute to effective governance by maintaining accurate project records, documentation and reporting.
* Facilitate and support meetings, workshops and project reviews as required.
* Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to drive project alignment.
* Promote and role‑model positive behaviours and values in line with Slough Borough Council’s corporate culture.
Skills / Experience
* Proven experience in project support or project coordination within a complex or public‑sector organisation.
* Understanding of project management methodologies (e.g. PRINCE2, MSP, P3O).
* Experience with stakeholder mapping and engagement planning.
* Excellent organisational and time‑management skills.
* Strong communication skills with experience creating or supporting communications plans.
* Good analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
* Ability to work effectively in a hybrid, collaborative and fast‑paced environment.
* Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel, PowerPoint and Project) and ideally experience with project management tools/software.
* Ability to work autonomously and prioritise competing demands.

This is a hybrid role requiring 23 days per week in the office at Observatory House, Slough.
Working hours: 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday 09:00 – 17:30).
