Overview
We are working closely alongside with local authority in Worcestershire to assist with the appointment of a Personal Advisor on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. The Personal Adviser is a key professional role within Worcestershire County Council, reporting to the Team Manager, with no direct line management responsibility. The primary purpose of the job is to provide and co-ordinate support to care leavers (relevant and former relevant). The goal is to enable them to make a successful transition to adulthood and achieve the goals outlined in their pathway plan. The post is graded at Scale 6. The post holder will be required to work flexibly, including outside of normal office hours and evenings. The role is subject to an enhanced Criminal Records Check (DBS) and the relevant children and/or adults barred list(s) checks, as it meets the definition of Regulated Activity.
Responsibilities
* Provide advice (including practical advice) and support to care leavers
* Report immediately any signs of neglect, injury, or other causes of concern for a Young Person's welfare or safety to the Team Manager.
* Actively challenge discriminatory behaviour, whatever the source, and report to the Team Manager or Human Resources as appropriate
* Undertake other such duties, training, and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required and are consistent with the general level of responsibility
* Undertake health and safety duties commensurate with the job and/or as detailed in the Directorate's Health and Safety Policy
* Carry out duties in a manner which promotes equality of opportunity, dignity, and due respect for all employees and service users, consistent with the Council's Equality and Diversity Policy.
* Full UK driving license
Qualifications and requirements
* Level of education equivalent to Diploma 3 in a relevant field (Childcare, Social Work, or other) or equivalent experience.
* Successfully achieved NVQ Level 3 - Children and Young People or Equivalent or is prepared to work towards achieving this within 12 months of being registered on the award.
* Significant experience of working with Young People as part of a team or with Partner Agencies
* Significant experience of working with Children, young people, or families who may be difficult to engage.
* Full UK driving license
