The role:
To provide a quality domestic service to the hospital or CHP premises, ensuring that a clean and safe environment is maintained for patients, staff and visitors following agreed cleaning work schedules, methods and procedures in accordance with NHS Scotland National Cleaning Specification and Healthcare Acquired Infection (HAI) Task Force Code of Practice. Domestics are required to rotate round all Wards Clinical areas and depts within hospital.
May be required to provide a food and beverage service for patients in adherence with Food Safety Regulations.

Shift Pattern - Monday - Friday
Key responsibilities:
1. Present an efficient, high quality domestic service to patients and staff within the hospital.
2. Follow specific schedule of work relating to defined areas although post holders are required to have a flexible approach to daily routine.
3. Economic and safe use of cleaning agents, following manufacturers recommended instructions.
4. Care and use of mechanical cleaning equipment.
5. Inform Supervisor of requirements for work materials as required and check delivery of cleaning supplies and equipment.
6. Wear protective clothing as supplied by the Department.
7. Disposal of waste in accordance with relevant Policy.
8. Clean crockery, cutlery, utensils, containers and small scale equipment manually or through the dish washer located in the ward kitchen (as per work schedule).
9. Work in accordance with pre-agreed cleaning schedules/frequencies (as per work schedule).
10. Respond to rectifications following audit within given timescale.
11. Responsible for regeneration of ward meals and plating up of meals as part of Ward food service (as per work schedule).
12. Comply with Infection Control Guidelines including colour coding system and body fluid cleaning in public areas
13. Participate in maintaining security at all times including setting alarms, distributing keys, closing windows and doors securely (as per work schedule)
14. If included on work schedule, bed screen/curtain hanging where required.
15. Ensure a smart and professional manner at all times.
16. Maintain high personal hygiene standards.
17. Comply with Health & Safety regulations.
18. Adhere to manual handling/risk assessment/fire safety training.
19. Report faulty equipment.
20. Participate as a team member.
21. Store cleaning agents and equipment correctly.
22. Prepare and serve hot beverages if part of work schedule.
23. Order stock and receipt of cleaning materials rotate for use by dates if required
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

30. Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate.
