Job Summary
This post is only available to all permanent and temporary employees and agency workers currently on assignment within East Dunbartonshire Council.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to have a meaningful impact on local climate change mitigation and adaptation by contributing to the development of East Dunbartonshire Council’s wide range of sustainability work.
The role will focus on developing the Council’s new Climate Action Plan and assessing the environmental impacts of proposed plans and strategies.
The post involves working closely with internal and external partners to ensure that the Council’s commitment to sustainability and climate change is reflected in its policies and activities. Using your specialist knowledge, you will provide advice and guidance on sustainability and climate change, and help ensure that the Council meets its statutory responsibilities regarding climate change and strategic environmental assessments.
You should have a good knowledge of climate change and environmental issues, with the ability to think strategically and develop innovative solutions to challenging problems. A degree in a relevant subject is required.

PVG / Disclosure Scotland
The following criteria apply to all roles within East Dunbartonshire Council where PVG/Disclosure checks are required:
* Successful candidates for Regulated Roles under the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020 will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check before employment is confirmed.
* The cost of the check will be deducted from the first salary, or in some cases, in installments from wages following employment commencement, with approval from HR & OD Manager.
* If an employee leaves before the deduction, the full amount will be deducted from the final salary.
This applies to both new applicants and existing employees applying for roles requiring a PVG/Disclosure check.
