We are recruiting on behalf of an award-winning consultancy to support delivery with a major player in the UK gas distribution sector. This is your opportunity to contribute to nationally significant energy infrastructure projects—ensuring excellence through robust schedule assurance and governance.
Based out of either Nottingham or Warwick on a hybrid basis, you'll work closely with senior stakeholders to validate and optimise plans, ensuring alignment with regulatory, commercial, and technical expectations.
🧭 The Role
As a Senior Planning Engineer (Assurance), you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of schedules across a portfolio of gas infrastructure works. You’ll challenge, assure, and support the development of high-quality programmes that drive project performance and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assure and validate project plans and schedules for feasibility and alignment with project objectives, assessing any faults on the programme and suggesting improvements
* Collaborate with delivery teams and stakeholders to review risks and highlight schedule vulnerabilities
* Monitor progress, report variances, and recommend corrective actions where needed
* Ensure planning standards and assurance frameworks are upheld across all phases of the project
* Support project governance through clear reporting and consistent programme assurance
* Leverage tools like Primavera P6 to manage and interrogate project timelines and dependencies
🧠 What We’re Looking For
* Extensive experience as a Planning Engineer in infrastructure, utilities, or energy
* Strong background in schedule assurance, governance, and compliance
* Proficient in Primavera P6 with excellent understanding of WBS, earned value, and critical path
* Technical Primavera Database management experience highly desirable
* Experience working within highly regulated industries—gas or utilities preferred
* Strong communication skills and stakeholder engagement at all levels
* Familiarity with assurance processes, audits, and best practice planning standards
