The Role
We are excited to offer a unique opportunity within our Voices That Influence Team, part of the Participation, Innovation & Improvement Portfolio at East Riding of Yorkshire Council. This role will lead on the design, coordination, and delivery of inclusive, creative engagement opportunities for children and young people.
You'll be central to supporting and embedding youth voice and participation across our services - helping young people shape the support they receive and ensuring their lived experiences influence local planning and service improvement.
Key responsibilities
1. Deliver and coordinate youth engagement activities across the East Riding.
2. Champion the voice of children and young people in decision-making as part of our inclusive advocacy model.
3. Co-produce meaningful participation models, including:
4. Mind of My Own digital engagement
5. Children in Care Council and Care Leavers Forum
6. An expanding Independent Visitors Scheme
7. Partnerships with the voluntary sector
8. Work collaboratively with professionals, partners, and young people to deliver sustainable, impactful engagement initiatives.
Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who:
9. Has direct experience in front line childrens services or youth voice and engagement.
10. Have good working knowledge of childcare legislative framework, and understand restorative, relational, and strengths-based practice.
11. Can analyse and interpret childrens and young peoples lived experience to drive service improvement.
12. Is passionate about inclusion, participation, and co-production.
13. Demonstrate a high level of motivation and the ability to work independently and drive initiatives whilst working within timescales and with conflicting priorities
14. Has a degree in health, education, or social care or relevant experience.
15. Is confident, creative, organised, and committed to making a difference.
16. You will also be working with the teams across our service and therefore, it is essential that the post holder is able to work effectively with others with a flexible, relational and adaptable approach.
