We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Band 6 Research Nurse (0.4 WTE) to join our Women’s Health Research team at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for a 24‑month fixed‑term post. This strategically funded role will support the delivery of key early‑pregnancy research studies focused on miscarriage, pregnancy loss prevention, and early pregnancy complications. You will contribute to nationally important projects helping to strengthen research capacity in an area historically underfunded and essential to improving outcomes for women and families across Lancashire & South Cumbria. Main duties of the job

Identify, screen, and recruit eligible participants across early pregnancy, maternity, gynaecology, and emergency care. Obtain informed consent and provide compassionate support to women experiencing early pregnancy complications or pregnancy loss. Collect and manage clinical and research data with accurate documentation and timely entry into electronic systems. Perform study-related clinical procedures, including observations, sample collection, and coordination of investigations, within scope of practice.
Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to promote research opportunities and embed studies within clinical pathways. Support feasibility, set-up, and delivery of key studies such as PREMIS, CORE 10, and MiNESS 20–28. Liaise with external partners including Tommy’s Research Centre (MFT), academic collaborators, and regional research networks. Monitor study progress, contribute to meeting recruitment targets, and report issues or deviations promptly. Assist with audit, monitoring visits, and quality assurance processes to maintain high research standards.
Promote patient‑centred research to improve early pregnancy services and reduce health inequalities across LSC. Support clinical academic development, fostering collaboration with local universities and contributing to the Trust’s ambition for University Hospital status.
