With thebusy traffic across our city, it takes a special type of person to stop thetraffic so pedestrians can cross the road safely. School Crossing Patrols arehighly valued by our schools and communities.
To helpus to achieve this we are looking to hear from reliable, enthusiastic membersof the community to promote Road Safety on behalf of Salford Council. This is akey role that is vital for community safety.
Previousexperience is not necessary, full training and uniform will be provided.
Aboutthe role
The roleincludes assisting children and adults safely across the road at a designatedlocation, when they are travelling to and from school. You willlook out for potential hazards or dangers near the crossing area and helpeducate children on road safety issues. Following health and safety guidelines,you will report any defects at the crossing point to a Road SafetyOfficer.
What we need from you:
1. You will be a good communicator.
2. You will be punctual.
3. You will be able to work independently and use your own initiative.
4. You will be willing to work in all weather conditions
5. You will be approachable but assertive when ensuring safety
6. You will need some physical stamina as you will be standing outside for long periods of time and holding the stop sign
Please be aware that this post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and that you will be required to meet the cost of the DBS check – currently £38.00. The payment for this will be deducted from your first four months’ salary payments at a rate of £9.50 per month. If you do not commence employment for any reason but the DBS has been processed, you will be sent an invoice for the payment of £38.00.
