Autism Support Worker – Champion Neurodiversity

Pay: From £85 per day
Supply Desk is recruiting an Autism Support Worker to support pupils with ASD in a welcoming and inclusive primary school in London Colney. This is an exciting opportunity to champion neurodiversity and make a tangible difference in children’s educational and personal development.
The Role
* Support pupils with autism both in and out of the classroom
* Encourage communication, social interaction, independence, and emotional regulation
* Implement structured routines, personalised strategies, and positive behaviour support plans
* Assist with transitions, group activities, and one-to-one interventions
* Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other staff to monitor progress and contribute to Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
* Support pupils during lunch, break times, and school trips
The Ideal Candidate
* Experience supporting children with autism
* Calm, patient, consistent, and empathetic approach
* Strong understanding of autism-specific strategies, communication tools, and sensory needs
* Able to build trusting relationships with pupils, families, and school staff
* Holds an enhanced DBS or is willing to apply for one
* Proactive, adaptable, and committed to championing neurodiversity
