SEN Teaching Assistant – WiganFull-time | Term-time | September Start

Are you a passionate SEN Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference in a supportive, nurturing school environment? Teaching Personnel are working with a welcoming and well-resourced specialist education setting in Wigan seeking a dedicated TA to support pupils with a range of additional needs.

About the Role

You will support pupils aged 3–19 with a variety of Special Educational Needs (SEN) including:

• Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
• Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD)
• Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
• Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
• Complex needs and sensory processing difficulties

The school provides a calm, structured and inclusive learning environment, with a strong focus on personalised support, communication, and independence.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual EHCP targets
• Assist in delivering creative, engaging lessons alongside the class teacher
• Support pupils with daily routines, personal care (where required) and emotional regulation
• Use positive behaviour strategies to promote engagement and well-being
• Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff
• Monitor and record progress, behaviour and achievements

Requirements

• Experience working with children or young people with SEN (education, care, or support setting)
• A patient, empathetic and resilient approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• A genuine passion for supporting inclusive education
• Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant) desirable but not essential
