Overview

An Ofsted 'Outstanding' comprehensive school in Abingdon is seeking a Curriculum Lead for Religious Education to drive forward the department's vision for high-quality, thought-provoking, and inclusive RE teaching. Responsibilities

* Lead the strategic development of the RE curriculum, ensuring it meets academic, ethical, and cultural learning objectives.
* Deliver engaging, knowledge-rich lessons that inspire curiosity and critical thinking.
* Mentor and support colleagues in curriculum planning, assessment design, and subject-specific pedagogy.
* Promote inclusive and representative RE teaching, fostering an appreciation of diverse religious and secular perspectives.
* Build strong links with local faith communities, universities, and interfaith initiatives to provide real-world learning opportunities.
* Aim to create a dynamic, knowledge-rich RE programme with interdisciplinary connections to history, politics, philosophy, and social justice.
* Collaborate with colleagues to support department leadership, assessment design, and strategic planning to raise standards across KS3–KS5.


Qualifications & Experience

* QTS and experience across KS3 to KS5 (as applicable).
* A visionary curriculum leader who understands how to create a dynamic, knowledge-rich RE programme.
* An advocate for interdisciplinary learning, with an interest in linking RE to history, politics, philosophy, and social justice.
* A team player who thrives in a collaborative, high-energy school environment.
