Main Duties of the Job
The postholder will be a member of the Occupational Therapy team and work as part of a wider multi‑disciplinary team within the hospital. Duties may include in‑patient and out‑patient work, taking place on Trust premises or occasionally within the community setting. The Occupational Therapy Service works with children, young people and their families. Assessment and treatment are carried out in numerous settings including the Occupational Therapy department, hospital ward, or home/community settings. The Occupational Therapist develops the child and young person’s ability to master self‑help, work and play skills using purposeful activity and adapted techniques and equipment to assist performance. This post is in Birmingham Children’s Hospital where you will work with a wide range of MDT colleagues and community service providers. A Senior Occupational Therapist will provide regular support and supervision. The Head of Occupational Therapy will be available as necessary.

Qualifications
* Diploma /BSc Occupational Therapy HCPC Registration
Experience and Knowledge
* Able to apply Occupational Therapy Process to patients in a clinical setting
* Experience of using Occupational Therapy assessment to plan/support discharge from hospital
* Ability to reflect and critically appraise own performance
* Previous experience of working in paediatrics in a hospital setting
* Relevant paediatric clinical practice experience
Analytical and Judgement Skills
* Good written and verbal skills
Professional / Managerial / Specialist Knowledge
* Confident to work independently
* Good time management skills and personal organisation skills
* Able to use common computer software such as Microsoft Office and able to learn clinical software systems with training
* Knowledge of current professional issues
* Membership of appropriate Special Interest Group
