Job Summary
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Ambulance Care Assistants to join our team on a Bank basis. The ideal candidate will provide essential Non-Emergency support to patients, ensuring their comfort and well-being during transportation. This role requires a strong understanding of patient care, driving ambulance fleet vehicles and manual handling tasks.
Responsibilities
* Transport patients to and from hospitals, clinics, nursing homes and private addresses
* Assisting patients in & out of vehicles, including those with reduced mobility, using appropriate equipment (e.g. wheelchairs, stretchers, lifts)
* Ensure patient safety and dignity at all times during transit
* Monitor and respond to patients basic health and comfort needs during the journey
* Maintain accurate records of journeys, timings and patient condition
* Carry out vehicle checks (fuel, cleanliness, safety equipment) and report faults
* Clean and restock ambulances and equipment as needed
* Support patients with mobility issues, including heavy lifting when required
* Communicate effectively with patients, their families and healthcare professionals
* Follow infection prevention and control measures (e.g. sanitising equipment after use)
* Remain calm and professional in unexpected or challenging situations
Qualifications
* Full, clean driving licence (with minimum of 2 years experience)
* Experience of working within a care setting
* Good physical fitness (lifting and assisting patients)
* Basic First Aid or willingness to complete required training
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
* Empathy, patience and a caring nature
* Understanding of patient confidentiality and data protection
