A fantastic opportunity has recently arisen within the Bristol Urological Institute as we are advertising for a Patient Pathway Assistant working 18.75 hours a week to join our busy Urology department. This is an exciting opportunity to start your career within the Bristol Urological Institute. The Urology department focuses on managing administrative processes for patients with urological issues in the Bristol and South West area, including RTT and cancer pathways. Knowledge of RTT and cancer pathways would be beneficial. The role involves supporting all administrative aspects of the patient pathway in line with 18-week referral to treatment guidelines and cancer pathways, working closely with the Consultant Team and Patient Pathway Coordinator, deputising as required.
The ideal candidate should work calmly, logically, and methodically, with the ability to multitask in a busy environment with complex patient pathways. The Patient Pathway Assistant will support the Patient Pathway Coordinator in managing inpatient and day case waiting lists, coordinating admissions, pre-operative clinics, and theatre lists. The role requires working in close liaison with colleagues, staff in other departments, GPs, patients, and the public. The candidate should work well as part of a team and use their initiative to provide administrative support to ensure high-quality service delivery.
Key responsibilities include supporting the coordination of patient admissions, scheduling appointments, booking theatre lists, managing waiting lists, preparing clinic letters, maintaining patient notes, handling correspondence, providing patient advice, managing enquiries, maintaining confidentiality, liaising with partner organizations, and supporting the clinical team with administrative tasks. The role also involves ensuring compliance with NHS standards, policies, and patient care guidelines, as well as providing cover for colleagues and undertaking additional duties as required.
