Fluvial Flood Risk Modelling Officer – 32404
The Environment Agency is recruiting a Fluvial Flood Risk Modelling Officer to join our national flood risk evidence modelling service. The role supports the Environment Agency’s Flood and Coastal Risk Management (FCRM) programmes, providing evidence for flood management and supporting strategic decisions aligned with the EA2030 ambitions.
Responsibilities
* Advise and guide flood risk management teams on hydraulic and hydrological modelling.
* Develop your own data management, hydraulic and hydrological modelling capabilities.
* Communicate flood risk analysis and results with internal and external stakeholders.
* Advise on appropriate tools and techniques for hydrological and hydraulic modelling approaches.
* Demonstrate positive health, safety and wellbeing behaviours.
* Use your technical skills to support incident management.
Qualifications & Experience
Required Skills
* Experience in science, flood risk and/or data management.
* Ability to analyse and process data and information.
* Good communication and customer service skills.
* Ability to influence and persuade.
* Ability to achieve results and work as part of a team.
* Ability to make decisions and solve problems.
* Awareness of health, safety and wellbeing with a commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity.
* Ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Preferred Skills
* Understanding of how flood risk evidence supports investment programmes and mapping projects.
* Skills in flood modelling software (e.g., Flood Estimation Handbook, Flood Modeller, TuFLOW, InfoWorks ICM).
* Skills in data processing, management and GIS software.
