The Great Western Hospital respiratory nurses are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for an experienced, motivated, and enthusiastic nurse with respiratory experience to work within a well-established team as a part‑time Band 6 respiratory nurse. The role involves providing specialist respiratory nursing service to patients with acute and chronic respiratory conditions in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Responsibilities
* Review in‑patients and triage out‑patients, run asthma clinics, and support procedures in pleural clinics.
* Provide care for day‑ward attenders and support the wider respiratory team.
* Act as a resource for other healthcare professionals requiring specialist advice.
* Participate in staff education alongside clinical practice educators and conduct audits.
* Collaborate with the Band 7 Respiratory Nurse to promote and maintain excellent, safe practice and to further develop the nurse specialist role.
* Strive to deliver high‑quality care and contribute to Trust objectives such as reducing length of stay.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Good understanding and experience of managing patients with long‑term respiratory conditions, including COPD, asthma, bronchiectasis, NIV, and pleural diseases.
* Interest in further development in areas such as ILD and biological therapies for COPD.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to work autonomously within a multidisciplinary team.
* Willingness to undertake training to expand existing knowledge.
* Demonstrated ability to make recommendations and decisions while supporting patients, relatives, and team members.
