Job Title: Technical Manager\n\nLocation: City of London (Commercial site)\n\nSalary: £65,000\n\nHours: Full-time, Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM + on call\n\nAre you an accomplished and highly client-focused Building Maintenance professional with extensive experience managing critical site operations, including complex UPS systems?\n\nWe are currently seeking a highly skilled and strategic Technical Manager to take full operational and commercial responsibility for a prestigious site in London. This is a pivotal, client-facing role requiring strong leadership, technical acumen, and a deep understanding of critical infrastructure.\n\nThe Role:\n\nAs the Technical Manager, you will be the key operational leader and the primary point of contact for our client on-site. You will be fully accountable for the end-to-end delivery of all building maintenance services, ensuring optimal performance, compliance, and budget adherence.
Your key responsibilities will include:\n\nClient Relationship Management:\nServe as the lead client liaison, building and nurturing a strong, trusted partnership.\nProactively manage client expectations, address concerns, and ensure all contractual obligations and service level agreements (SLAs) are consistently met and exceeded.\nConduct regular client meetings, provide comprehensive performance reports, and identify opportunities for service enhancement or value creation.\nOperational Leadership & Delivery:\nTake full accountability for the safe, efficient, and compliant operation and maintenance of all building services (M&E, fabric, soft services interface) on-site.\nOversee the execution of all planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules, reactive works, and minor projects, ensuring timely completion and adherence to quality standards.\nDevelop and implement site-specific operational procedures and emergency response plans.\nTeam Management & Development:\nLead, manage, recruit, train, and develop a high-performing on-site team of engineers and facilities operatives.\nConduct performance reviews, set objectives, and foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous professional development.\nManage team rotas, holiday leave, and emergency call-out arrangements to ensure robust site coverage.\nCompliance, Health & Safety:\nEnsure strict adherence to all relevant statutory regulations, British Standards, Health Technical Memoranda (HTMs - if applicable), and company Health & Safety policies.\nBe accountable for all aspects of health and safety on site, including risk assessments, method statements (RAMS), Permit-to-Work systems, and ensuring a zero-harm environment.\nPrepare for and lead site audits (internal and external).\nSub-contractor Management:\nSelect, onboard, and manage external specialist contractors, ensuring their performance, compliance, and integration with site operations.\n\nWhat We're Looking For:\n\nProven Experience: Significant experience (minimum of 5 years) in a supervisory/managerial role within the building maintenance or facilities management sector, specifically managing a critical or high-profile site.\nClient-Facing Acumen: Demonstrable experience in managing high-level client relationships, with exceptional communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.\nTechnical Background: A strong understanding of M&E (Mechanical & Electrical) building services.\nLeadership & Management: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage technical teams effectively, including performance management and development.\nHealth & Safety: Excellent understanding and practical application of UK Health & Safety legislation.
