Help us keep our stations safe, smart, and running smoothly.
We are looking for a hands‑on, people‑focused Site Operations Manager to lead planned improvement and repair work across the GTR network. You will manage a small team of in‑house Site Service Engineers, ensuring our stations remain safe, look great, and operate efficiently for the millions of passengers who use them daily.
If you enjoy rolling up your sleeves, motivating your team, developing others, and keeping everything running like clockwork, this could be the role for you.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Lead a small team of Site Service Engineers to deliver day‑to‑day maintenance and site improvement projects.
* Get hands‑on with the work yourself – a balance of practical tasks and mentoring.
* Ensure everyone stays safe by confirming risk assessments and safety plans are in place before, during, and after work.
* Inspect completed jobs and resolve any snagging issues to maintain quality.
* Support and train your team, helping them grow skills and stay safe.
* Collaborate with contractors and managers to plan site access and minimise public disruption.
* Maintain tools, vehicles, and kit, ensuring all equipment remains in good condition.
What You’ll Need
* Solid hands‑on experience in construction and/or building maintenance.
* Strong focus on site safety and efficient working processes.
* Confidence working with a unionised team and extracting high performance.
* Good understanding of risk assessments, method statements, and safe systems of work.
* Comfortable reviewing contractors’ safety plans.
* Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools.
What You’ll Get
You will be rewarded with an engaging and varied work schedule in an environment that encourages learning and progression. You’ll enjoy great company and industry benefits, supported by a friendly team. Comprehensive and ongoing training, free travel on our network, privilege rate Oyster card, up to 75% off all other train operating companies, final salary pension and much more.
