Teaching Assistant – SEN Schools
Salary: £13.75 per hour
Contract: Term Time Only (Monday to Friday)
Hours: Full-time and part-time roles available
We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in schools across Portsmouth. This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who are passionate about inclusive education and making a positive impact on young people’s lives.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 or small group support to pupils with a range of learning and physical needs including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and mobility needs.
* Assist the class teacher in delivering educational and emotional support
* Support pupils in developing their social skills, confidence, and independence
* Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment
* Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs, therapists, and parents to meet individual pupil needs
Requirements:
* Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN
* Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team
* A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
* Flexible and resilient to allow adaptation to changing needs

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
