Medical Secretary - Trauma & Orthopaedic (Band 3)
We are looking for a current or aspiring medical secretary. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills in secretarial work, and /or to gain further experience in the Trauma & Orthopaedic specialities.
The post holder will be required to support the administration service predominantly within the Trauma & Orthopaedic Administration Hub, with the flexibility to cover across the hub where required if necessary. The post holder will be responsible for running a safe and quality administration service that supports the medical and nursing staff.
Main duties of the job
To work as part of the Administration Hub to provide a comprehensive administrative service to the clinical workforce. To support the Team Leader and Admin Manager in the day to day running of a specialty administration team.
This role will require someone with excellent organisational, time management and prioritisation of workload skills in order to manage the busy environment and various tasks that require timely completion and ensure quality care is delivered to our patients. An ability to work within a team and create a positive working environment is key to what we are looking for, as well as a hardworking and passionate individual who is keen to work within the rewarding organisation of the NHS and adheres to our right care values.

Qualifications
* RSA/OCR level 2 word/text processing/audio typing or equivalent experience
* OCR level 3 word/text processing/audio typing
Experience
* Administration/office experience supporting senior management functions i.e. diary management, electronic filing systems, meeting preparation, minute taking, collating and presenting information etc.
* Medical secretary experience supporting a medical or surgical specialty service
* Administration/office experience supporting senior management functions within the public sector.
* Experience within trauma & orthopaedic speciality
* Knowledge of medical terminology
Knowledge
* Competent in Microsoft Office Software or equivalent administrative programs.
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook
* Knowledge of Information Governance
* Knowledge of hospital systems (such as SystmOne/CERNER)
Skills
* Ability to work autonomously and proactively
* Good interpersonal and communication skills
* Good organisational skills
* Able to prioritise work effectively and deal with non-routine tasks under pressure
