An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Governance and Assurance Manager to join Rolls-Royce Submarines in Derby. We’re a leader in propulsion system design and development for the Royal Navy’s nuclear submarine fleet and the sole provider and technical authority.
Working for the Head of Governance and Assurance and Risk. The Governance and Assurance Manager will be responsible for overseeing the Rolls-Royce Submarines governance frameworks, ensuring compliance with regulatory obligations, and maintaining effective assurance processes. This role plays a key part in strengthening the internal control environment, supporting risk management, and promoting a culture of accountability and transparency across Submarines

What you will be doing?
* Maintain and enhance corporate governance structures, policies, and procedures
* Support the Board, Executive, and Committees with governance advice and reporting
* Develop and oversee the internal assurance framework to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and policy requirements
* Coordinate 2nd Line of Defence Assurance across the business and follow-up on agreed actions
* Monitor key controls and assurance processes across departments
* Ensure alignment between risk management and assurance activities
* Develop and deliver governance and assurance training to internal stakeholders
* Act as a subject matter expert on good governance practices
* Prepare high-quality reports, dashboards, and briefings for senior leadership and governing bodies
* Analyse trends in risk and assurance to support strategic decision-making

* Proven experience in governance, risk, assurance, or compliance roles.
* Trained auditor with audit experience
* Strong understanding of corporate governance principles, risk management frameworks, and regulatory compliance
* Experience of working with senior stakeholders, Boards, and/or Committees
* Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
* High attention to detail and a commitment to integrity and confidentiality.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver under pressure.
* A degree level or equivalent in business, project management, or 2-3 years equivalent business experience including APMQ qualifications is desirable in addition to experience with data analytics and management information reporting.

To work for Rolls-Royce Submarines, you need to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you don’t currently already have this in place. Due to the nature of work the business conducts and the protection of certain assets, you must hold a UK nationality. Any dual nationals will require additional scrutiny and background checks prior to commencing work with RRSL.
