Personal Advisor
Client: Nottinghamshire County Council
Contract: Full-time (37 hours per week) | Temporary Contract
Location: Nottingham
Pay: £15.66 per hour (PAYE)
Job Purpose
Support vulnerable young people transitioning from care by managing complex cases involving assessment, planning, intervention, and coordination of services. Your work will align with the Children Act, national guidance, and local policies to help these young people achieve positive, independent futures.
Key Responsibilities

Deliver services in line with Aftercare Service and Children, Families and Cultural Services Business Plan objectives.
Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners to assess and support care leavers.
Manage a caseload in accordance with risk assessments and legal regulations.
Maintain accurate, timely case records using digital and manual systems.
Contribute to interagency strategies and attend statutory reviews and multi-agency meetings.
Provide flexible support, including evening and weekend work as needed.
Undertake specialist roles in complex assessments or service development.
Apply safeguarding principles across all aspects of your work.
Regularly review care leavers' needs, ensuring support plans remain appropriate.
Respond to urgent cases, provide advice and support, and escalate as necessary.
Work closely with colleagues, managers, and external partners.
Design and deliver life skills and independence training for young people.
Support service users with transport and personal belongings when required.
Promote and uphold equality, diversity, and inclusion in all service delivery.Key Accountabilities

Deliver care leaver services in line with:
Children Act Guidance Volume 3: Planning Transitions to Adulthood for Care Leavers
Local safeguarding procedures and policies
Conduct comprehensive needs assessments and deliver person-centred support.
Manage young people's financial needs and oversee individual budgets.
Prepare high-quality reports for statutory reviews and safeguarding forums.
Participate in regular professional supervision, appraisal, and training.
Stay up to date with relevant legislation and best practice.
Attend planning meetings, case conferences, and team forums.Person Specification
Education & Knowledge

GCSE Grade C or above (or equivalent) in English and Maths
Relevant professional qualification
Full UK driving licence (or reasonable adjustments for disabilities)
Strong understanding of:
Child development and challenges faced by care leavers
Children Act 1989/2004, Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000, and Children and Social Work Act 2017
Multi-agency working and safeguarding frameworksSkills & Competencies

Committed to delivering excellent support and customer care
Strong interpersonal skills for building trust and collaboration
Sound judgment and problem-solving capabilities
Confident using IT systems and digital recordkeeping
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Organised, with the ability to prioritise under pressure
Dedicated to promoting equality, fairness, and safetyExperience

Experience (paid or voluntary) working with diverse young people
Proven ability to build supportive relationships and encourage independence
Experience of developing intervention strategies
Skilled in managing challenging behaviours
Familiarity with case documentation and administrative processes
