Role: Advanced Physiotherapist – Paediatric Orthopaedics/MSK

We’re looking for an Advanced Paediatric Orthopaedic Physiotherapist to join The Portland Hospital, currently rated “Good” by the CQC.
The Portland Hospital is the only private hospital in the UK dedicated to the healthcare of women and children. As the only fully private maternity hospital in the UK, delivering over 1,600 babies a year, we place great importance on providing safe and high quality care for expectant mothers. Both consultant-led and midwife-led maternity care is available, and our aim is to provide you with all the support you need during pregnancy, childbirth and beyond. Women’s health issues are treated by a team of 40 consultants, supported by nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and counsellors, with an emphasis on privacy and dignity.
As an Advanced Paediatric Orthopaedic Physiotherapist, you will be responsible for the provision of specialist Physiotherapy interventions for children and young people aged 0-18 with musculoskeletal and orthopaedic conditions. You will be supported by the Physiotherapy lead and Outpatient Lead for supervision, appraisal & development, and will be responsible for the supervision of a rotational band 6.
This role will include support for the Women’s Health team, supporting their inpatient postnatal, maternity and gynaecology wards. Experience or an interest in Women’s Health is desirable and training to upskill will be offered.
There will also be some general paediatric, neurological and respiratory patients as you may be required to provide cover for other members of the Physiotherapy team, including weekend and on-call service cover.
You will have a full clinical caseload and work alongside other Paediatric Physiotherapists, and the MDT whilst supporting the Clinical Lead Physiotherapist and Head of Therapies with service development initiatives.

What you’ll bring:
1. To be responsible for inpatient orthopaedic caseload including: admission assessments & planning, goal-setting and treatment planning, equipment provision, orthotics and discharge planning. Providing high quality Physiotherapy care to orthopaedic patients across The Portland Hospital.
2. To be able to provide clinical support across other areas of the hospital, including PICU, neurorehabilitation and acute wards, and women’s health wards (postnatal, maternity and gynaecology).
3. Use expert clinical reasoning to provide specialist intervention, support and advice to patients, ensuring best practice is applied at all times.
4. To maintain accurate, up-to-date and concise treatment records detailing the individual patient’s treatment plan and progress.
5. To ensure that physiotherapy sessions are commenced on time and patients are charged appropriately for their treatment.
6. To work flexibly to the needs of the service and to participate in the out of hours weekend and standby service as required.

Skills and experience
7. Be registered with the HCPC
8. Degree in Physiotherapy
9. Highly specialist experience in Paediatric Orthopaedics and/or MSK
10. Experience working within in-patient and out-patient settings within an acute hospital
11. Experience working across other disciplines within physiotherapy e.g. rotations
12. Experience in Women’s Health Physio is desirable
