Job summary
As the Medicines Management Lead Pharmacist at Oaklands Hospital, you will play an integral role in the clinical team, leading the delivery of safe, effective, and patient-focused pharmacy services. This part-time role (22.5 hours/week) balances hands-on clinical duties with strategic medicines governance responsibilities, supporting the highest standards of medication use and patient care.
Main duties of the job:
1. Participate in ward rounds and collaborate with the wider clinical team.
2. Conduct clinical screening of prescriptions to ensure safety and efficacy.
3. Optimise medicines for perioperative and surgical patients.
4. Provide tailored patient counselling on medication use.
5. Oversee the safe, secure storage and handling of medicines.
6. Contribute to and lead medication safety audits.
7. Chair Medicines Management meetings to drive quality improvements.
8. Train and support clinical staff in medicines management best practices.
9. Implement and monitor compliance with local and national medicines policies.
10. Report on trends and drive continuous improvement in medication use.
