What you'll actually do
In this busy and varied role, you'll be a vital part of the on-site Engineering team. You'll be responsible for both reactive and planned maintenance across a range of production equipment and utilities, ensuring minimal downtime and keeping our lines running efficiently.
Your day-to-day duties will include:
Perform first-line maintenance across mechanical, electrical, and control systems
Respond quickly and effectively to breakdowns and fault-finding activities
Carry out scheduled Preventative Maintenance (PPM) activities
Maintain all production plant, utilities, and site facilities (lighting, compressed air, steam, buildings, storage areas, etc.)
Act as the first point of contact for production teams regarding engineering issues
Escalate issues appropriately to minimise business impact
Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, food hygiene, and statutory regulations
Monitor contractor activities to ensure work is completed to required standards
Provide clear reporting to Engineering Managers and support effective communication across teams
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability and performance
Ideally, this is you
A fully qualified Multi Skilled Engineer with relevant engineering qualifications
Electrical bias preferred, with strong mechanical competence.
Previous experience in FMCG or food manufacturing is desirable
Sound understanding of health & safety, food safety and compliance
A strong team player who can also work independently when required
Able to stay calm under pressure and respond quickly to technical challenges
Good communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving
Experience in continuous improvement, lean manufacturing or automation is a bonus
