We are delighted to share this opportunity for a highly skilled and experienced psychological therapist to join our Staff Psychological Wellbeing Service in a unique and varied role. This post is advertised as a Band 6. Candidates should already be accredited with the BACP or BABCP. Where accreditation is not yet in place, applicants meeting eligibility requirements will be expected to apply for accreditation within 6 months of start date. Successful applicants will receive a development plan and, after accreditation, will be paid at Band 6 rate.
Main Duties
An experienced, self‑motivated, and enthusiastic Psychological Therapist will provide expert brief, short‑term psychological therapy for staff, contribute to group interventions and psycho‑educational programmes, and support workplace counselling. Substantial post‑qualification experience in multi‑disciplinary adult client work, assessment, brief solution‑focused work, and workplace counselling is essential.
Key responsibilities include risk, safeguarding and conflicts of interest assessment, and collaboration with specialist advisory services. The role is based in Carmarthenshire and may involve travel to provide face‑to‑face appointments across multiple sites, with blended virtual engagement.
Qualifications and Knowledge
* Recognised professional qualification in Counselling or Cognitive Behaviour Therapy to at least Diploma level
* Membership and accreditation with an appropriate professional body (e.g. BABCP, BACP)
* Working knowledge of more than one evidence‑based therapeutic model
* Working knowledge of models of assessment, screening and brief intervention
* Knowledge of clinical outcome measures for clinical and audit purposes
* Awareness of equality and diversity issues
* Recognised professional qualification in Brief‑Focused Therapy, Bereavement Counselling, Anger/Anxiety Management, Relationship Issues
* Master's degree in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy or Counselling
Experience
* Significant post‑qualification experience in multi‑disciplinary client work with adults, including brief focused work and assessment
* Experience of receiving regular and appropriate clinical supervision
* Previous experience of workplace therapy/counselling
* Experience with a wide range of clinical caseloads
* Experience facilitating post‑trauma support work
* Experience working with groups
* Experience within an NHS or other healthcare setting
* Experience teaching/training adults
* Experience in the administration and use of clinical and audit questionnaires
Other Requirements
* Able to travel promptly across the Health Board as required
* Able to work hours flexibly in accordance with service requirements
* Welsh speaker (Level 1)

Salary
£40,559 to £48,841 per annum (pro‑rata), with Annex 21 conditions applied.
