The position is a modern apprenticeship leading to becoming a qualified machinist.\n\nIt is anticipated that the apprenticeship will last 4 years but this does not include the 1 year probation period which will be located on site and is prior to beginning the apprenticeship. \n\nThe successful individual will work closely alongside the CNC turning / Milling team to manufacture components for the Aviation Industry. \n Main duties are to: Learn how to safely set and operate CNC lathes and machining centres. \n\nCompletion of college qualifications on day release with the apprentice being responsible for their own transport to the college.\n\nDue to the working environment the individual may be expected to work on a two-shift pattern after they have completed the 2nd year of their apprenticeship.\n Candidates should be enthusiastic team members with a natural interest and aptitude for mechanical engineering.\n\nHold a minimum of 4 National 5âs (or Equivalent) or above such as Maths/ English/ Science or Tech Studies and/or a relevant NC qualification.\n\nExcellent communication skills with the ability to use your own initiative and a strong drive to succeed are all essential.\n
