Where will you be working?

At M Group Water we help our clients safeguard the water supply, improve environmental performance and manage demand for future generations. We enhance and extend asset life, ensuring compliance with water quality and environmental standards. We're problem solvers with over 140 years of combined experience in engineering and infrastructure.

This role is in our Demand management and network infrastructure department, our team is responsible for looking after 60 million meters and our teams provide advanced metering solutions to help manage demand for essential suppliers across the Group.

You'll be working across M Group's Water frameworks in the North, covering Yorkshire Water and United Utilities, there will be regional travel in the role around the operating area.

What will you be doing?

As a Health and Safety Apprentice, you will be interested in learning, problem solving, and have a passion for health and safety. You enjoy working as part of a team, are adaptable, confident, and have high levels of attention to detail. This role is for someone who loves a challenge and isn't afraid to challenge the status quo.

Your remit would be to prioritise activities, multi-task, provide data for board packs and reporting, and put forward suggestions for improvement. You will be given the support and development to become a fully qualified health and safety professional.

In this role, you will assist with inspections, system audits, tool box talks, and investigations, and eventually take ownership of tasks, trend review & analysis, and risk assessments. You will be instrumental in driving improvements and ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees, championing our 'It Starts with me campaign'

To excel in this role, you'll need to be a team player with a willingness to learn and lead by example.

What You'll Bring

Grade C or above in at least 5 GCSEs including English and Mathematics (9-4 within the new grading system)
A full UK or EU Driving License
You must be able to demonstrate your Right to Work in the UK, we are unable to offer sponsorship for this role
You must be able to start on the 1st September 2026
You must live in a commutable distance from the office in Reading
Ability to work on own initiative without direct supervision with a high commitment for delivery and quality

Apprenticeship Development Scheme (ADS);

A blend of online and face‑to‑face sessions
Focus on soft skills development and mental health/pastoral support
Some residential elements within England
All travel, accommodation and meals fully funded during training
Time spent both with the training provider and under supervision on site

About The Apprenticeship

At the end of your apprenticeship, you will have achieved a Level 3 Health and Environment Technician Qualification. The course length is 24 months.
