Overview
We are seeking a capable and driven SHEQ professional to join our team, with flexibility to appoint at Advisor or Manager level depending on experience. This role offers a genuine opportunity to make an impact across a diverse portfolio of construction projects, supporting continual improvement of our certified management systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
Based in East Kilbride, the successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the delivery of high standards in safety, health, environmental and quality performance across a varied portfolio of projects throughout Scotland & the North of England.
Location: Scotland (East Kilbride base with regional travel, including occasional overnight stays)
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: Monday–Thursday 8am-5pm, Friday 8am-4pm
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Reports to: Head of Health & Safety (Scotland)
Key Responsibilities
* Provide day-to-day SHEQ support and guidance across all projects.
* Champion best practice and lead by example to embed a positive safety culture.
* Support, coach, and mentor site teams in behavioural safety and statutory compliance.
* Assist in the implementation, maintenance, and continual improvement of ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 systems.
* Conduct site inspections, audits, and behavioural observations, recording findings in the company’s SHEQ reporting platform.
* Proactively identify and mitigate SHEQ risks throughout project’s lifecycles.
* Escalate concerns and, where required, stop work to prevent unsafe acts or conditions.
* Manage the effective close-out of actions from audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
* Attend internal and external meetings including those with clients, subcontractors, and project teams to provide SHEQ input, raise concerns and support collaborative planning.
* Investigate incidents and produce detailed, factual reports that identify root causes and recommend improvements.
* Support the maintenance and renewal of company accreditations, assisting during external audits.
Person Specification
Essential:
* NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent (Diploma or equivalent preferred for Manager level).
* Demonstrable SHEQ experience within a construction or similar high-risk environment.
* Sound understanding of UK SHE legislation and the application of good practice on site.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence others.
* Comfortable working independently across multiple project locations.
* Competent in MS Office and experienced in using digital SHEQ platforms or reporting systems.
* Full UK driving licence.
* Willingness to travel extensively across a wide geographical area, including occasional overnight stays when required.
