Wheal Coates is a mixed specialty surgical ward caring for patients through their elective and emergency pathway journey. We provide care for planned surgery which includes Inpatients and Day-cases across many specialties, for example; Max-Fax, ENT, Ophthalmology, Oral and Vascular, and we also care for emergency and medical patients.

Job responsibilities
Main duties of the job include providing patient care as part of a multidisciplinary team and supporting the delivery of high-quality nursing care in a surgical ward setting. The role supports professional and personal development with a clear development structure, including senior ward level nursing and Clinical Nurse specialists within the Surgical specialty. Simulation training is available at the point of care to practice and develop acute clinical skills and teamwork.

Qualifications and experience
Essential
* Level 1 Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration or students pending registration
* Commitment to obtain assessing / mentoring qualification
Desirable
* Evidence of professional portfolio
* Basic computer skills
Skills
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Basic computer skills
Experience
* Previous experience in an acute Trust within the last twelve months (this can include student placements)
Knowledge
* Understanding of evidence based practice to enhance care
