What You’ll Be Doing
- Design, build and maintain secure software applications, APIs and services within highly secure environments.
- Develop modern full-stack and backend solutions using technologies such as Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, Python or C++.
- Build scalable, distributed systems to support mission-critical workloads, data processing and analytics.
- Develop APIs, microservices and event-driven architectures that power secure digital services.
- Collaborate with architects, DevOps engineers, testers and data specialists to deliver production-grade software.
- Contribute to software design decisions, architecture discussions and technical documentation.
- Apply modern engineering practices including clean code, testing, peer reviews and secure development standards.
- Support DevSecOps delivery through CI/CD pipelines, cloud-native services and containerised deployments.
- Integrate software with cloud, streaming and data platforms across complex technology estates.
- Implement monitoring, logging and observability to support stable, secure live services.
Main Skills Needed
- Experience working within UK Security & Intelligence, defence or other secure government environments.
- Strong software engineering experience across modern development frameworks and secure application delivery.
- Proficiency in one or more languages such as Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, Python or C++.
- Experience developing APIs, backend services and full-stack applications.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, microservices and event-driven architectures.
- Experience working with cloud-native technologies, particularly AWS and containerised environments.
- Knowledge of DevSecOps principles, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and secure coding practices.
- Ability to work effectively within Agile, multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Current high-level UK security clearance is essential.
