Our client is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Systems Engineer to join their growing Systems function and contribute to a diverse range of cutting-edge engineering projects. The Role
The Systems Engineer will play a key role throughout the full systems development lifecycle, from initial design and requirements definition through to system integration, testing, and customer acceptance. This position involves close collaboration with hardware, software, and firmware teams to ensure that all solutions meet technical and operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Undertake system design activities across all stages of the development lifecycle.
* Deliver technical solutions that meet requirements through design, integration, and verification stages.
* Develop and review technical documentation, including specifications, test plans, and procedures.
* Conduct system integration, testing, and qualification activities both in-house and at external sites.
* Identify and manage technical risks and opportunities within projects.
* Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams to achieve project goals.
* Participate in customer design reviews, acceptance testing, and technical discussions.
* Support the safety, reliability, and through-life support of products.
* Contribute to research and development initiatives aimed at improving engineering quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
Key Requirements
* Proven experience in systems design, implementation, testing, and integration — ideally within the defense sector.
* Strong understanding of the systems engineering lifecycle and associated processes.
* Ability to produce clear and accurate technical documentation.
* Awareness of electronics and software/firmware design principles.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with internal teams, customers, and suppliers.
* Experience working with agile or spiral development lifecycles (desirable).
* Must hold (or be eligible to obtain) SC or DV UK security clearance.
* Full UK driving license and sole UK nationality required.
* Degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline.
* Membership of a recognised Engineering or Science Institute (desirable).
* Willingness to travel occasionally within the UK.
