Are you a UK registered adult nurse who is interested in training as a midwife to become a dual registrant?

This is a fantastic opportunity for registered nurses employed by our trust to train as a midwife at Kingston University, the #1 University in London for Midwifery (Guardian League Tables 2024).

You will receive a monthly salary throughout the course duration, funded at middle of band 5, and free tuition fees- an amazing offer to support you in gaining this NMC registration and increase your employment opportunities.

You will be able to undertake your placement experience at King’s College Hospital or Princess Royal University Hospital where you will join our amazing team in caring for women and their families in a variety of settings, taking advantage of great learning opportunities. Your placement will be supported by an experienced team of midwives, obstetricians, maternity support workers, students, apprentices and neonatal practitioners. We currently have a variety of settings including low-risk birth centre, community teams and complex care.

This is a two-year course and starts September 2025 and you can choose to study at Degree or Master’s Level.

Main duties of the job

You need to have registration as an Adult Nurse (RNA) on the NMC (UK) Professional Register for Nurses.

You will have the option to study at two levels:

• Undergraduate: BMid

• Postgraduate: MMid

1.Determine and provide programmes of care and support for women which:

1. Are appropriate to the needs, contexts, culture and choices of the women, babies and their families.
2. Are made in partnership with women.
3. Are ethical.
4. Are based on best evidence and clinical judgement.
5. Involve other practitioners when this will improve health outcomes.
6. Care for and monitor women during pregnancy, childbirth and postnatal period, offering the necessary evidence-based advice and support on baby and self-care.

2.Provide seamless care and interventions in partnership with women and other care providers during pregnancy, childbirth and the postnatal period which:

7. Are appropriate for women’s assessed needs, context and culture.
8. Promote their continuing health and wellbeing.
9. Are evidence-based.
10. Are consistent with the management of risk.
11. Draw on the skills of others to optimise health outcomes and resource use.

3.Refer women who would benefit from the skills and knowledge of other individuals:

12. To an individual who is likely to have the requisite skills and experience to assist.
13. At the earliest possible time, supported by accurate, legible, and complete information which contains the reasoning behind making the referral and describes their needs and preferences.
