Job summary
Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CUH) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Programme Manager to support the delivery of key corporate programmes and strategic priorities within the Chief Medical Officer's (CMO) Directorate.
This is a pivotal leadership role at a critical time of transformation across the Trust. CUH is delivering significant organisation-wide change at pace -- and we are looking for a confident programme leader who can operate with authority, influence at senior level, and drive sustainable improvement.
As a key member of the CMO team, you will lead and assure delivery of multiple complex, high-impact, interdependent programmes. Oversee projects from initiation through to delivery and formal benefits realisation. Work closely with Executive Directors and senior clinicians across the Trust. Champion large-scale change that enhances patient safety, quality and governance and operational performance. Shape and strengthen governance, reporting and assurance frameworks within the CMO's Office. You will operate with a high degree of autonomy and professional authority, ensuring strong programme discipline in a fast-moving and sensitive environment.
Main duties of the job
In this pivotal role, you will lead and assure the delivery of multiple complex, high-impact projects and workstreams from initiation through to delivery and formal benefits realisation, operating with a high degree of autonomy and professional authority. You will work with Executive directors and senior clinicians across the organisation, championing large scale change, embedding sustainable improvements that enhance patient safety, quality workforce effectiveness and operational performance.
This appointment comes at a critical moment for transformation at CUH. The Trust has committed to significant organisation wide change delivered at pace, requiring strong programme management leadership, governance discipline and the ability to operate confidently in a sensitive and fastmoving environment.
You will provide expert programme and project management leadership across the portfolio of complex, high-impact, inter-dependent initiatives supporting quality, safety, governance and the medical workforce. The role will also shape and influence the development of robust governance, reporting and assurance mechanisms to improve the effectiveness of the CMO's Office.
You will bring a highly developed analytical and strategic mindset, confident leadership style and the resilience required to influence at senior level, make difficult judgements and resolve competing priorities in a pressured environment.

* Educated to Masters level or equivalent experience in the field of programme management and improvement, such as Postgraduate Certificate in Management and/or Advanced Certificate in Corporate Governance and/or Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) Programme Management Qualification.
