The Role

Christeyns Professional Hygiene is seeking a Business Development Manager to join our national sales team. This role offers the opportunity to drive business growth while also supporting National accounts activity within the Christeyns Professional Hygiene Group – a family-owned business operating across multiple sectors worldwide.

As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in expanding our customer base, developing strategic partnerships, and promoting our industry-leading hygiene solutions within your geography.

Location: Field-based, Scotland and the North of England region.

Start date: As soon as possible

Job type: Permanent, full-time

Main Duties

1. Gain new business and contracts within the UK.
2. Identify sales opportunities and achieve targets aligned with Christeyns Professional Hygiene’s strategic vision.
3. Effective management of prospect pipeline to ensure reliable and consistent follow up.
4. Preparation of bespoke, sustainable, and profitable business proposals that are focused on customer needs.
5. Project lead large Professional Hygiene group tenders.
6. Deliver company presentations to prospective clients at all levels, including senior management and directors within the Professional Hygiene industry.
7. Demonstrate efficiency, cost-effectiveness, customer care, and a strong understanding of the marketplace.
8. Contribute to the company’s success through effective leadership.
9. Communicate effectively at all levels, both nationally and internationally when called upon.
10. Achieve consistent year-on-year sales growth.
11. Work closely with colleagues to retain existing business.

Essential Criteria

12. Ability to travel across the UK, with occasional European engagement and overnight stays.
13. A strong track record in business development, sales, or account management within the Professional Hygiene industry or a related sector, including a good understanding of OPL.
14. Experience in identifying and securing new business contracts.
15. Ability to achieve and exceed sales targets.
16. Strong interpersonal communication skills and confidence in delivering presentations to senior management and directors.
17. Hold an understanding of market trends, customer needs, and cost-effective solutions.
18. Ability to work independently while contributing to the wider sales and business development strategy.
19. Experience in building and maintaining strong client relationships.
20. IT Proficiency – Comfortable using CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and digital tools for reporting and presentations.
21. Excellent attention to detail.
22. Self-motivated and a flexible team worker.
23. Ability and willingness to learn new skills.

Desirable Criteria

24. Knowledge of UK professional hygiene distributor market is desirable.
