Are you confident leading a classroom and managing challenging behaviour? We’re recruiting a Cover Supervisor to work within a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Wakefield, supporting students who require a more structured and supportive learning environment. Leader Education is working in partnership with a specialist PRU setting to find a resilient and adaptable individual who can confidently deliver pre-planned lessons and maintain a positive learning environment. The Role This is a full-time position (Monday–Friday) within a PRU setting supporting secondary-aged pupils. You will: Deliver pre-set lessons in the absence of the teacher Manage classroom behaviour and maintain a structured environment Support pupils with SEMH needs and behavioural challenges Build positive, professional relationships with students Support engagement and encourage participation in learning Work closely with teaching and pastoral staff Students may present with SEMH needs, Autism (ASC), ADHD, or behaviour linked to trauma and disengagement from mainstream education. Ideal Candidate This role would suit someone who is: Confident leading a classroom independently Calm, firm, and emotionally resilient Experienced managing challenging behaviour Passionate about supporting vulnerable young people Reliable and committed to full-time work Strong backgrounds include: Cover Supervisor experience Behaviour mentoring Youth work Care or residential support Sports coaching Security or intervention roles Alternative provision or PRU experience Previous school experience is desirable but not essential — confidence and behaviour management skills are key.
