Job overview

Paediatric Trainee Research Advanced Clinical Practitioner (Nurse)

Band 7 WTE (progressing to Band 8a on qualification)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a trainee advanced clinical practitioner to join our dynamic research team within Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust (GOSH) working in the NIHR Clinical Research Facility. We are looking for a dynamic and motivated individual who is willing to learn and develop their expertise in clinical research and this exciting area of medicine.

The successful candidate will have a place on the ACP Masters at Middlesex University commencing in September 2026.

The BRC funds research into the discovery of the basis of childhood rare diseases, the development of novel diagnostics and imaging techniques, and new treatments including pharmacological, stem cell and genetic therapies. A number of entirely novel experimental therapies are being trialled in children with rare diseases including cancer, muscular dystrophies, kidney disease and metabolic diseases. This is done mainly in the NIHR Clinical Research Facility, a state of the art, purpose-built facility where children can receive these new drugs in a safe and comfortable environment. The NIHR Clinical Research Facility increasingly supports experimental studies which recruit and assess children in other areas of Great Ormond Street Hospital, for example, recruitment and follow up of children, whenever appropriate.

This cutting-edge Clinical Research Facility provides a high quality, clinical environment, in which children and young people can take part in research programmes safely and effectively, according to robust and ethically approved protocols.

Main duties of the job
