IRecruit4 are recruiting a Maintenance Engineer for a specialist healthcare and medical consumables manufacturer in Swindon. The company operates in a highly regulated environment where quality, compliance, and efficiency are critical.
The Maintenance Engineer will maintain, repair, and improve production equipment and machinery. We are looking for someone with a strong 50/50 electrical and mechanical background who works independently, takes ownership, and proactively supports production to enhance equipment performance and site efficiency.
This is a highly autonomous role within a small team, so the successful candidate must integrate quickly, confidently engage with operators, and independently manage maintenance and continuous improvement activities.
Salary & Benefits for Maintenance Engineer:
£45,000 £50,000 per annum (Depending on Experience)

Key Responsibilities for Maintenance Engineer:
Electrical and mechanical fault finding and repairs
Identify opportunities for improvement across equipment and processes
Preventative and reactive maintenance on production machinery
Reduce downtime and improve operational efficiency
Support production teams with technical expertise
Engage with operators to identify improvement opportunities
Ensure compliance within a regulated manufacturing environment
Work independently while knowing when to seek support
Manage Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules, spares, and documentation
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and safety culture
Requirements for Maintenance Engineer:
18th Edition qualification and IOSH certification
Demonstrated experience creating and managing Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules
Experience with PLC installation, commissioning, and fault finding
Experience working with industrial robots, including Kuka Robotics
Understanding of Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) and Mean Time To Repair (MTTR)
Experience with automated production or material processing equipment and industrial control systems (e.g., Siemens TIA Portal, WinCC, Profinet/ProfiSafe, Sick Safety PLCs
Desirable (Not Essential):
Experience with heat welding
Experience with radio frequency (RF) welding
Experience working in an autonomous environment but knowing when to ask for support when needed
