The Utilita Bowl is an award winning sporting venue with a multi-functional site playing host both Hampshire men's and women's professional cricket teams plus a wide range of other exciting events.
We have a vacancy for a qualified and experienced Facilities Maintenance Engineer. Reporting into the Facilities Manager, the successful candidates will both have full working knowledge of safe working practices and a proactive approach and will carry out a varied range of maintenance duties across our Utilita Bowl Venue.
Job Purpose
To help implement and maintain business improvement and process improvement into all areas.
Supporting the Facilities manager in the safe operation and maintenance of all plant, equipment and installations while maintaining efficient and high performance standards.
Responsibility for ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, all relevant Health & Safety Legislation and site specific Health, Safety and welfare policies.
Give site support to the set up and de-rig of all site events and provide race day support.
Accountabilities
To follow and embrace Utilita Bowl Health and Safety culture and follow all processes and procedures.
Have full working knowledge of the safe working practices in the use of tools and equipment used as part of job role.
To take a proactive attitude in identification and resolution of defects.
To undertake installation / maintenance / repair work as required.
To assist in all necessary repairs and PPM tasks of a statutory and non-statutory nature relating to Electrical systems, Boilers, HVAC and General Building elements and advise your line Manager on remedial action required.
Required to work on new installations and undertake training on new techniques and legislation as required and pass on knowledge to others.
Will be required to use access equipment for working at heights (training will be provided as required).
Will be required to work as part of a team as well as working alone following lone working procedures.
Completion of all necessary paperwork to support tasks and provide an audit trail for legislative compliance.
Risk assessment and method statement review for all contractors prior to carrying out their works.
Work monitoring and control.
Ensuring safe conditions for all.
Ensure the wider teams are communicated to effectively before any activity that will have any impact on the site staff or facilities.
Maintaining contractor, O&M and service records.
Undertake all additional duties and responsibilities as instructed by your line manager.
H&S
Contractor supervision, ensuring 100% of contractors have a relevant RA and MS in place, along with any permit to work requirements before commencing work.
Making safe of energised systems.
100% of contractors to be inducted and signed in on site.
Undertake and abide by all training supplied by Utilita Bowl.
Work Planning.
Follow Utilita Bowl systems to ensure that the work is effectively controlled so that it is carried out safely and has no adverse effects on business.
Work order sign-off, ensuring 100% of customers receive feedback.
Provide cover in the event of another engineer being absent.
BMS management.
Interrogation and understanding of the site BMS systems and the fire alarm systems.
Emergency Engineering Response
Provide engineering support in the event of a site emergency.
Provide technical support for all match days and large events.
System responsibilities for but not limited to:
HVAC.
BMS system.
Switchgear.
PAT testing.
Lighting.
Controls.
Pumps.
Boilers.
Water treatment / Testing. (L8)
Building Fabric
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Essential8
Minimum of one of the following qualifications; Electrical City & Guilds 2365 with 18th Edition / Test & Inspection /. City and Guilds in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning. City, / Gas Safe Commercial and Domestic or Carpentry (other qualifications also considered).
Competence in Electrical Controls systems associated with Mechanical Services.
Able to diagnose faults and put forward appropriate rectification measures.
Able to establish necessary parts/plant/materials necessary for completion of tasks.
Flexible attitude to work individually and working as part of a team.
Able to represent Utilita Bowl both internally, with clients and all visitors to Venue.
Hold a valid UK driving licence.
To have a understanding of other building construction trades.
Desirable
Additional qualifications and experience in other building related trades would be advantageous
Asbestos Awareness.
Legionella awareness.
IOSH Management safety.
The successful candidate will be required at all times to perform any other reasonable task, as requested by the Line Manager in order to meet the operational needs of the business. The role is based at Utilita Bowl, Southampton. Whilst the role is predominantly 37.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday during office hours, there is an expectation that the role holder will flex hours to be present during match days, which may involve evening, weekends, bank holidays during the Cricket Season (typically April – September)
